Gents, I have the chance to pickup a consew It is as near as I can tell an older machine. Needs some cosmetic cleanup. Is this of any use for leather. It looks a lot like a to me. Not sure it would work but I have it. I have no use for a blind stitch bt couldn't pass up a table and a motor at that price. Thanks for any thoughts Ross. Ok gang here is what I picked up. IT needs cleaned up and is missing part of the foot. I am betting as I go over I will find more things it needs. I couldn't pass it up for that kind of money. I welcome opinions and Bob do you sell parts? Bob, It needs work mostly cleanup and cosmetic and then I will see what I really got but that kinda price I just had too.

Im super new to machines. This would be my first one. I wanted to ask you a few questions. I signed up for leatherworker. The knowledge and responses here were so impressive I wanted to ask. I have an option to purchase either a Consew or a Consew RB. I make leather bags, purses, fanny packs, etc, around 5oz - 6ozish, stitching by hand. I do want a machine that can sew heavy duty leather incase I decide to go towards heavy leather for totes. I did see someone mentioned the can sew up to 20oz, does the RB do 20oz too?

So, I pulled up the PDF manual on the Consew machine I just bought and was reading over the needle and thread sizes that are recommended. All of my machines in the past worked fine with domestic all purpose thread, but I know that won't be true in this case. I can't find any websites that have pics of the needles and thread up close or to scale, so I am having a hard time selecting what will be appropriate for my work. Would you be kind enough to help me? Which would you use for thick stuff like veg-tan? First of all, if you intend to use household polyester, polycore, or cotton thread, your chart looks accurate.
