Cobra jet heads 460 ford
Thread Tools. I'm considering purchasing a set of assembled edelbrock rpm performer heads OR cobra-jet style heads from Summit.
Earlier this decade, Kaase demonstrated their considerable engine-design talents when they corrected longstanding failings in the original series cylinder heads. For the first time, the series engine exceeded the cfm peak intake flow of the desirable Boss Kaase with Ford designated the new heads the Super Cobra Jet. In the intervening years and with ambitions to expand into broader markets, including the street performance arena, Kaase consolidated the gains made in the SCJ heads and continued to refine them. Now, with peak intake flow ratings of around cfm, the new Kaase P51 variants are available directly from the Kaase factory. Of perhaps greater significance is their superb mid-range flow characteristics see table below. Commendably, Kaase retained the 72 cc combustion chambers, which allow users to run pump fuel.

Anyway, is there any reason that these heads cannot be used on a with the torker II intake? Does anyone have experience with them? Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. Most parts are interchangeable. I'm not familiar with the Torker II or it's port size. The only difference is port size. If you are installing CJ heads you must install a CJ intake.
It'll be in my Cobra, so it can heat up a little with slow traffic, in the heat of summer. Also, if you use longer valves for more spring height, the problem gets worse.
There was also the MEL Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln fat block displacing and ci produced from , a low-revving luxury car monster mash that ultimately became a popular mill for marine racing applications. The MEL made brute low-revving torque for just about any application, which made it perfect for luxury cars. These engines were right for the time. In fact, the FE big block remains the standard for Ford enthusiasts and the aftermarket. At Ford, the abundant torque the MEL made worked perfectly in marine applications and for drag racers. It was also a quiet smooth luxury car powerplant long on twist for heavy Lincolns.

I have a chance to pick up the older set at a good price for a street build. Thanks in advance. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. The tfs street or older cj a do not require the special pistons. There are some more posts on head flow in the engine build section. Would be an excellent street head.

Also can the exhaust ports be ported to D0OE size especially the floor, the bump seems to be taller any issue with going into the water jacket? Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. Do NOT lower the port floor on the exhaust ports for the purposes of enlarging the port, as it will do more harm than good. By the way, yes , there is a water jacket under the floor at the short turn radius the bump at the top of the floor where it turns to the valve bowl. There is room for improvement, but lowering the port floor certainly isn't it. If you want a very good porting guide for the Ford heads, go to www.

Which is more important to you? There are several ways to fix this, all of which are not a good idea. We have changed the rocker stud angles and positions to accommodate most rocker arms and valve lengths. When flowing one of these problem ports, sticking a butter knife or blade in the floor of the port will usually straighten it out to flow If lash seems excessive noisy , tighten it up a bit to 0. First round Dyno Don Nicholson cranked off a 7. CALL , We have dyno tested engines with heads that flowed and then changed to heads where every port went turbulent to flow We then set up a program to CNC under both seats, down in the bowls and to the top of the short turns. In high flowing intake ports with the port opening positioned down close to the head gasket surface, the air often breaks away from the port floor and results in turbulence.

We have dyno tested engines with heads that flowed and then changed to heads where every port went turbulent to flow The real magic in this head though, is the intake flow at. Of course none of the manifolds would fit. The only difference is port size. This chamber size also permits experimentation with different compression ratios: employing slightly dished or slightly domed pistons as desired. Of perhaps greater significance is their superb mid-range flow characteristics see table below. We then set up a program to CNC under both seats, down in the bowls and to the top of the short turns. Also, it's not static compression that you need to be worred about, it's net cylinder pressure. The P51 heads function with the original rocker gear, but require longer pushrods because of altered valve geometry. The blocks are all relatively cheap for Ford to produce by the time they get to end of the machining line. I had a torino super cobra jet ram air what was special it had bench seat an rubber floor no carpet. Existing engine, thinking about new heads. For myself, after thirty eight years of building racing engines, this still rates at the top.
The remarkable message
I confirm. I agree with told all above.
