ESRB: Everyone.

At the time of writing, Cities: Skylines 2 sits at a meager 39 percent positive reviews on Steam , with many players complaining about poor performance and stability, even on the best PC hardware money could buy. Particularly striking are the reviews by players who claim they own the RTX , arguably the best graphics card on the market, and still only manage to get FPS in the low 50s with the minimum graphics settings. On Metacritic , Cities: Skylines 2 has an average score of 76, with most reviews criticizing its bad performance and launch state. Cities: Skylines 2 had a lot to live up to and certainly still can if it gets rid of the underlying problems plaguing its performance. Skip to content Category: General.

It seems like the only people who really love this game are on reddit. Just the devs released too early, or they didn't have early access for pre-orders. I was pleasantly surprised it got 3. I was sure it was going to be closer to 1 of Each DLC has always been problematic. So, hopefully they'll get on track soon. CS1 released with a few major patches over a few months. I never thought it would be any different for CS2, and it seems to be the case. Hopefully their previous experience will get them out a little quicker. Imagine losing literally millions of sales because some idiot somewhere couldn't wait to fix the issues. Hint: some of the issues are hard-limit issues and some of the bugs are caused by badly added patch-fixes to get over the 'hard limit' issues. This hurts. It's painful for the intelligent among us. I would add this is my opinion but it doesn't take someone too smart to see its probably not entirely imaginary.

The original Cities: Skylines was a much-needed Band-Aid over the gaping wound that the collapse of the SimCity brand had left in the gaming world. We, the gamers — we want to build weird little cities. We want to make dense urban corridors and industrial havens, vast tracts of tree farms and bridges to nowhere. The good news is that Skylines 2 hits all the markers. It develops the systems of the previous game in substantive ways, offering many different methods for crafting the space of the city for your own design needs. The road creation system offers a full suite of options to curve, place, align, and organize any kind of city system that you would like, and nearly all the other systems in the game derive from that. If you build it, Skylines suggests, you can make it work. The most notable part of Skylines 2 might be just that: You can delve into its complex systems of transit and zoning and economic development and taxation management, make your personal tweaks, and yet still make it work. The original game had a tricky way of allowing you to get to the mid-game, or at least a midsize city, where the weight of the operation could collapse in on you if you were not careful.

While the original Cities: Skylines practically brought its breed of open-ended city builder back from the dead after SimCity killed it , Cities: Skylines 2 is a sequel that often feels like it took more steps back than it did forward. It's full of exciting and gratifying new mechanics for managing your economy and creating more realistic metropolises. But it also asks you to do a lot of busywork if you don't want the end product to look horrendous on close inspection, and sacrifices some of the user friendliness of its predecessor to fit in more bells and whistles. I'm going to spend a lot of time criticizing Skylines 2 here, because it is certainly disappointing given what I've come to expect from Colossal Order.

Additionally, big deathwaves come through the city, and kill off half of your population every now and then for no reason. Bet your bottom dollar they will. It is pointless to spend your time on Cities: Skylines 2 in its current state. Read More. Published: Oct 24, pm. It's a shame some features like green building are gone, but I'm looking forward to seeing how Colossal Order keeps building Skylines 2 in the future. After the epic fail, that was SimCity, I gave up hope for a good, relaxing city building game. Some geospatial data on this website is provided by geonames. Screengrab via Paradox Interactive.
