Fortnite season 8 is finally here and along with it comes some new changes to the map. Unlike the more focused theme of season seven, there are a couple of themes that make up the changes and additions in season 8. For starters, the recent earthquakes and rumbling did indeed hint at a volcano that has now emerged. Pirates have also landed and seek to stake their claim on the Battle Royale map. Additionally, a trailer for the new map hints that even more is on the way. There is still a lot more to unpack regarding the changes to the Battle Royale map. There are a few new named and unnamed locations, as well as changes to existing places.
Chapter 1 season 8 map
Like all new seasons of Fortnite, Season 8 has brought a number of map changes and updates both big and small. A jungle area now covers the northeastern portion of the map and many named locations have drastically changed. Fortnite's map is always evolving and the latest update added a few new areas of interest. This new restaurant can be found in the eastern section of Retail Row where the old basketball court used to stand. The southern house at Snobby Shores has received both an upgrade and a downgrade. The actual homes is now in ruins with holes leading straight into the underground bunker. The garage and wooden tower have been taken over by a viking clan with wooden spikes out front and a new interior. The center building in Tilted Towers is nearing completion and this newest update brings the building up to speed. It'll likely be fully furnished and completed by the next update but we don't think it'll stick around for too long. The largest and most obvious change is the massive volcano sitting amidst the giant chunk of land now set in the jungle. The entire northeastern portion of the map is now a jungle biome, featuring tall trees, uneven terrain, and several tropical themed locations. Above is a look at the area a day before the changes were made. Take note of the brownish tone of Wailing Woods and the surrounding area. And there's also a gigantic volcano right in the center of it all.
