BakusaiTenketsu 3 months ago I never felt the same awe and wonder in TotK that BotW imparted. Because it felt so much the same, it didn't have the same impact for me. On top of that, TotK just felt easier for the sake of making things less monotonous, so exploration didn't feel as rewarding, and combat felt less exciting. Solving puzzles even felt cheaper since you could just fuse your way around a problem instead of solve it. By the end of the game, I felt like I had just completed a bunch of checklists.
Guardian Stalkers were a force to be reckoned with, botw vs totk, and its arguable whether they're more of a nuisance than the Gloom Spawns in Tears of the Kingdom. Ore itself is much easier to find Selling Ore was the best way to get a ton of Rupees in Breath of the Wild.
The Switch was a phenomenon at launch and part of the reason why it succeeded so well out the gate was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It was all fans could talk about. It was a portable game with home console-level quality that featured an open world that felt near endless. It was such an amazing game that fans couldn't wait for the sequel to come out, with this wait being positively agonizing for some players. Many concepts are better than other games in the Zelda series, which is a testament to just how much love and effort was put into this title.
Although The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom builds on Breath of the Wild in many ways, there are still a few ways in which it takes something of a step back from its predecessor. As a rare direct sequel in the Zelda series, Tears of the Kingdom reuses much of the foundation laid by Breath of the Wild , taking place in the same Hyrule and starring the same Link, giving the game ample opportunity to build on and improve the exploration and gameplay of Breath of the Wild. Among other gameplay expansions, Tears of the Kingdom 's new features like the sky islands, the Depths, and a number of new underground areas scattered around Hyrule's surface level make for a game that offers even more freeform exploration than its predecessor. This new exploration is further facilitated by Link's new abilities, which combine in interesting ways that allow players to flex their creativity. However, not every change made by TOTK is a positive one. While Tears of the Kingdom expands on Breath of the Wild 's gameplay in many ways, the game's controls and user interface also suffer somewhat from the expanded gameplay options.

A number of brand-new gameplay features have been confirmed for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. As a sequel to 's Breath of the Wild , it'll likely borrow greatly from the positive aspects of its predecessor. However, some of its changes seem designed to address BOTW 's shortcomings, while others will help give the sequel its own identity. The changes seem to be wide-ranging, varying from minor visual touch-ups to game changing mechanics. Some of these have been long since predicted by fans, while others may come as a complete surprise. Link's new Fuse ability lets him graft items together in order to create improvised weapons. This will likely give new life to half-broken weapons, allowing players to hang onto their favorite equipment for longer, perhaps even powering it up with a clever fusion. The Fuse ability for weapons should reduce the frustration of weapon durability while still requiring the player to be adaptable in combat, affording them more options than ever before.

As is, I think I share some grievances that the depths are largely wasted space outside of the few set pieces there are down there, unfortunately. Only one I enjoyed on its own was Sonia recalling the teacup. Their drop rate hasn't been increased , and instead it feels more like it's decreased. Link's travel options are limited in Breath of the Wild. It's like preferring vanilla D2 over Lord of Destruction. I was hoping TotK would build on the beauty and naturalness, adding more little details in flowers, trees, wildlife and the weather so it felt even more 'truly wild'. In TotK , Rauru does his best to lend a hand , but doesn't seem to have anymore parting gifts when Link departs from the Great Sky Island. Finding the essential armor and paraglider is a lot faster process. However, some fans were also quick to point out that while the memories are dear to Zelda, they don't have much to do with Link. Totk was trying to tell a much more structured story, for all the good and bad that comes with, but I feel used the fact it was building off another as best it could, only for some stuff to not match up so well in the interest of things like the Sheikah tech just not fitting in anywhere to the themes it presented. Where does Tulin respawn after he leaves you if you warp while he's following you? Money farming has become a frustrating part of Tears of the Kingdom , so it's no wonder fans are looking for ways to dupe glitch Diamonds or other expensive items to sell. In some cases, a Shrine doesn't have a Trial but rather a "Blessing," in which Link can just waltz on in and grab the Orb.
Since Tears of the Kingdom is a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild and the game takes place in the same world, comparison videos were bound to be plenty, showcasing the differences between both titles. Gamer by day, gamer by night as well, I guess , and occasionally GoNintendo writer by like the evening Eastern Time, maybe it's by night for you, who knows! Be nice
Players are going to do a lot of fast traveling in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , which makes this an amazing upgrade. Dinraal's body will set Link ablaze and burn up any of his wooden weapons he has equipped if he gets too close. There are three dragons that can be found soaring around Hyrule in Breath of the Wild. Which game is better? Last edited: Jan 13, Selling Ore was the best way to get a ton of Rupees in Breath of the Wild. Depending on where players were at in their BotW -playthrough, they could even get a melee weapon with more attack power or durability. Spoiler warning ahead. Click to expand TotK loses that. Despite the breakout popularity of Kass and his quest chain in Breath of the Wild , the character doesn't make a return in the sequel, being inexplicably missing despite much of the rest of BOTW 's cast returning in Tears of the Kingdom.
It is a pity, that now I can not express - it is compelled to leave. I will return - I will necessarily express the opinion.
