We also focus on carrying lines that pay it forward, donating proceeds to education of underprivileged children or the education of women in India and Africa. We strive to carry mostly USA made items and even we produce items for sale on the floor. Other products featured are homemade soaps, greeting cards, t-shirts, scarves, jewelry wooden housewares and Fair-trade companies. We strive to carry socially conscious and eco-friendly products to promote sustainable living. Located at Broad St. Born and raised in the Syracuse area, VanDerhoof first came to the Capital Region to work as an environmental engineer for the state. After 17 years, VanDerhoof decided it was time to do something new. After a quick upstart, the shop recently held its ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration, which attracted more than guests. At the time, VanDerhoof was fashion merchandising for a company called Three Bird Nest on the side, and noticed it was becoming popular enough to have a retail space. VanDerhoof started networking with artists from as far away as the West Coast and as close by as Waterford. The shop carries merchandise from more than a dozen vendors, including neighborhood locals, such as Crystal Orton, to Etsy sellers from all around the country. All the elements of the shop are reclaimed, reused and repurposed, including wooden ladders used to display scarves and tree branches that hang dresses.
