How do you solve the Defiled Temple stone disk puzzle in Baldur's Gate 3?

Through the Defiled Temple, you can travel to the Underdark and progress several missions, so it is a vital area you need to unlock. However, it is possible to skip the puzzle entirely if you wish. The entrance to the Defiled Temple can be found in the Shattered Sanctum inside the Goblin camp, specifically on the western side in the room where you can find the Goblin Priestess previously. You will need to unlock the door with a lockpick , so I recommend using a character with Sleight of Hand, but you should be warned that this is an action that will draw attention to you if anyone is around. However, by this stage, I had already taken out the three Goblin leaders , so it was merely a case of killing off any stragglers left behind. On the other side of the door, the first task is to sneak past or defeat Polma the Ogre.

Early on in Baldur's Gate 3 's main story, you will come across Selune's Defiled Temple, which contains a puzzle related to different moon phase patterns. The puzzle itself is quite challenging, but you will have to solve it if you plan on going to the Underdark. You will be to identify this puzzle by finding four rotating discs that have corresponding different moon phases. These phases include full moon, half, and new moon symbols. If it hasn't become apparent already, this puzzle in Baldur's Gate 3 is solved by arranging the different moon phases in a specific order. There's also a way to bypass this puzzle completely instead of going through the trouble of solving it. When attempting the Moondoor puzzle in Baldur's Gate 3 , the goal is to get the rotating discs to align, as seen in the image above.

If you plan on getting through the Defiled Temple and reaching the Underdark on this path, then you need the solution to the four-piece puzzle. The goblin priestess will actually take you here herself if you decide to go along with her. After entering the locked door, there will be a room with an ogre named Polma pacing around. To solve the Defiled Temple stone disc puzzle, you need to rotate the stone discs in the order of the phases of the moon on the ground. All four pieces work together, so rotating one stone disc can change the outline of another. This makes getting all the moon phases aligned more tricky than just spinning each floor piece.

Some require you to solve puzzles, and the one found in the Defiled Temple of Selune is particularly tricky. These Discs and their circles can overlap with each other in a cross shape at the center, and rotating any of the Discs will cause the circles in the cross section to be passed between the Stone Discs. This allows them to be passed from one Disc to another, which can allow you to create a different pattern than what you start with. Your goal is to rotate them so that they create a pattern akin to a lunar cycle. More specifically: The top Disc needs to be filled with white circles while the bottom disc is filled with black circles. We found it to be easiest to rotate the black eclipses into the bottom circle, as the rest of the puzzle falls into place once this is done. To do this quickly, move your black circle of choice toward the overlapping cross section. Rinse and repeat with all four black circles, and you should end up with all four in the bottom Disc. A new passageway will open up to you shortly after, and the pizzle will be solved.
