Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge is the fourth and final season of the Japanese anime television series Bakugan Battle Brawlers. The series originally had 26 [1] episodes ordered, however Nelvana announced that this series would be extended to 46 [2] episodes total in length, with production by TMS Entertainment and Maxpire Entertainment. On January 15, , CoroCoro Comics announced that a series was in production that would feature the characters from the BakuTech! Taiwan aired the original version of New Vestroia six months before Japan. One whole year has passed after defeating Barodius and the Twelve Orders, Dan, Marucho and Shun have managed to rebuild Bakugan Interspace and expand it. The episode begins, with Dan battling two Subterra and Darkus brawlers in Interspace with Marucho and Shun observing the battle. Marucho's new Guardian Bakugan, Aquos Trister, complains about not being able to battle after leaving Gundalia to team up with him.

These mutants then defeat many Chaos Bakugan and they split apart. Then, Drago and Taylean merge again and deals some more damage to the Razen Titans. Mag Mel retaliates by not only summoning more Razen Titans but also arrives with the evolved Razenoid too. He then binds Dan and Drago in a knot and the Brawlers Mechtogan fight back. However, Razenoid proves to be too strong and manages to survive and defeat all of their Mechtogan. The two manage to break Razenoid's shield and knock him back but he manages to survive and attacks everyone, including the Brawlers themselves. Mag Mel begins to taunt Dan and Marucho forms a small plan. Taylean and Helios then attack Razenoid while Trister reminds Dan and Drago about the gate and key which since they have, can possibly close the Dark Moon. Razenoid then blasts Trister who gets up later as Dan and Drago fly up to the moon after breaking free with Mag Mel and Razenoid coming from behind. The destiny of the Earth it's on the hands of Dan and Drago just as Spectra said. Dan and Drago, however, are not doing as well as Mag Mel tells them about the energy collected from Bakugan Interspace.

After returning from the feuding realms of Gundalia and Neathia, Danma Kuusou and his companions continue their lives on Earth. Now, a year later, the virtual reality world of Bakugan Interspace has finally recovered from the alien invasion and has once again become a place for brawlers to gather and challenge themselves. It turns out, however, that whenever Danma's Bakugan, Pyrus Dragonoid, unleashes his might in battle, the Interspace experiences new disruptions. Unable to harness the incredible powers granted to him by Code Eve—the Bakugan Mother spirit—he struggles to maintain control over the Mechtogan contained within him. When it goes out of control, the mysterious mechanical entity wreaks havoc on the battlefield, attacking friends and foes alike. To make matters worse, Bakugan Interspace is at risk of being infiltrated again. An unknown mastermind is sending mutated Chaos Bakugan into the system in order to brainwash brawlers and take control of the virtual realm. Mag Mel then disappears. After Dan refuses to sign a few autographs and say hello to his fans, Anubias challenges the "big shot" to a brawl and Dan accepts the challenge. The grand battle begins with the Brawlers summoning their Mechtogan, Dan with Rapilator and the addition of Drago, Zenthon, and Zenthon Titan defeating the first one, and Shun who summons Faser Titan and defeats another one. To celebrate his victory, Dan's friends throw him a party, but soon discover Dan is missing. Some time later, Mira shows Dan the data she was able to retrieve from his Bakumeter about the strange Mechtogan and Dragonoid Destroyer. Wiseman appeared before Gunz, revealed his face, and told Gunz how he was created from his jealousy of Dan. The battle is fierce, but eventually, the Battle Brawlers and Dragonoid Destroyer lose. In the end, Reptak will go brawling with Dan. Sellon also mentions that the end of the world is still coming and Dan and Drago ask whats she's talking about but she teleports back to Earth and reports back to master Mag Mel. Reptak then tells the Brawlers he is sure that Red Wiseman was the real Gunz. Note: The Japanese episode titles are taken from the original version with Japanese audio. Marucho attempts to dissuade Rafe and Paige in joining, but they declare that they have no reason to avoid battle. Meanwhile, Wiseman reveals to the Nonets that the Mechtogan are now fully resurrected except for Coredegon; as Wiseman states he is saving him for last. The Nonet Bakugan take on Mechtavius destroyer but they are no match for his power. Back on Interspace, Noah still can't believe that Anubias is really gone while Dan consumes too much hatred for revenge and decides to destroy Mag Mel once and for all. Before the episode begins with the Battle Brawlers going through a Dimension Portal, to get to Gundalia, Dan goes with the other Brawlers because this fight involves him too. Meanwhile, in the Doom Dimension, the Nonet Bakugan wonder if Coredegon and the Mechtogan were victorious against the Bakugan, and they decide to ask Worton, but he tells them to be patient. Sellon and Anubias talk, revealing that they just threw their battles. Rafe and Wolfurio distract the Mechtogan allowing Paige and Boulderon to take the flag and win, all according Marucho's plan. They are stunned as Mag Mel arrives revealing that he can see visions of Dan too, so he knew about the attack. Meanwhile, the problem goes worse with the Brawlers in the Doom Dimension, not just on how to escape, but also Betadron and Gunz going into the Doom Dimension and challenging Dan Kuso and Drago in a battle. Then Dylan leads the Chaos Bakugan to the Brawlers. Anubias uses the opportunity to strike Drago and wins the brawl. Sellon tells Anubias that with them as a team, they will be able to produce more energy for Mag Mel with Anubias not wanting to throw another battle. After saying this, Mechtavius Destroyer vanishes alongside the Nonets and Wiseman, leaving the Brawlers in big trouble.
