Surrounded by towering mountain ash trees and rolling hills, the laidback town is a wonderful place to visit for a weekend from Melbourne. Located in the main street of Warburton, the centre hosts a regular program of art exhibitions, movies, professional shows, workshops and festivals. Originally connected to Melbourne via a train line in , the disused track between Warburton and Lilydale is now a 40 kilometre trail suitable for walking, cycling and horse riding. The trail starts at Lilydale railway station and goes through bushland, farmland and fern gullies to the township of Warburton. See the ruins of old railway stations and platforms on your journey and explore several towns along the trail. Located 18 kilometres from Warburton , Mount Donna Buang rises to a height of metres. During the snow season, visitors can enjoy snow play and there are three toboggan runs. The lookout tower at the peak is 21 metres high and offers panoramic views. Part way up the mountain is the Rainforest Gallery with its spectacular skywalk aerial walkway through the tree tops. Located 24 km north-east of Warburton, this park offers walks through tall eucalypt forests and allows visitors to view the Upper Yarra Reservoir dam wall and spillway.
