These are all guitars that are available at area dealers since I'd prefer to deal with someone who's not just moving boxes, but the closest dealers are probably an hour's drive away. I do like that the Seagull I'm most interested in has the QIT preamp - sounds good, has a tuner, doesn't take up too much real estate on the bout - but that Legacy is calling to me. Hopefully, I'll come across one locally but, in the meantime, if there's anyone who's tried one of these out, I'd like to hear your impressions! Hi, I actually tried one yesterday - it was a red one with a cutaway. Fretwire is very small, machine heads are fragile.

Their portability, sweet dynamic range, and comfortable-to-play dimensions have proved extremely popular. The use of sustainably sourced woods on our review model is a case in point. The binding has an off-white hue, as do the tuner buttons and bridge pins. The bridge is rosewood and so is the fingerboard, which is home to 19 medium frets and white plastic dot markers. The two-piece neck is Canadian silverleaf maple. In fact, 95 per cent of this guitar is made from Canadian wood, no doubt thereby helping to keep shipping costs and, in turn, the final SRP down.

These guitars often had a meaty sound for such a small size, and the Roadhouse Q-Discrete continues that tradition with a fairly full acoustic voice and an even livelier sound when plugged in. Its Q-Discrete preamp brings the Roadhouse to life with shimmering overtones and full lows. I kind of liked how it matched my jeans, both in color and in the way the stain settled into the wood grain, in ripples on the solid spruce top and long, clear grain lines on the wild cherry sides and back. The shapely white pearlescent pickguard adds a nice contrasting touch, along with the deep hues of the chocolate-colored binding, rosewood bridge and fingerboard, and maple neck.

I don't care what woods it is made out of. The Seagull Grand is another parlor that costs slightly more than an Ami but it's another great budget alternative to a Larrivee Parlor. Satin finish and shallow D shape. Worth the money, nice to play, and Tone was good too. I was very impressed, I bought it as soon as I'd stopped playing it in the shop. It actually felt like it was similar to Martin string spacing, but now I know, that's really going to mess with my head! I would drive the hour to check out the Alvarez.
