Armageddon steel legion
GW has been putting some older Guard squads on MTO pretty regularly, but armageddon steel legion time they say it will be the final such one for the metal Armageddon Steel Legion Squad miniatures boys. The valiant men and women of the Armageddon Steel Legion are finally getting the peaceful retirement they deserve.
Check the Tactics Corner for more great articles! Hey guys and girls, BigVik here with the next in my series of articles highlighting list builds for the Armageddon Steel Legions! These guys are mechanized infantry all the way, they field lots of small squads with an abundance of special weapons to make every squad capable of getting the job done, and have extended rapid fire range, making them quite sure that the maximum utility will be gained from those plasma guns! Between the commanders and astropaths you have tons of support to ensure your guardsmen can get maximum use out of those special weapons they brought. The leman russes open up cans to ensure the other weapons can get to the creamy filling inside, while the sentinels and ratlings keep deep strikers from getting too close to your line on turn 1. Though there is not an abundance of special weapons, the abundance of boxes with guns on them creates a situation where there is an absurd abundance of strength 6 and 7 shots, backed up by orders, and ignoring cover from the astropaths, you can force saves to such a degree that the one unit that NEEDS to die, will do so, and an abundance of single units means it will be very hard to wear your list down before the end of the game, making this list extremely good at taking and holding objectives. What its Strengths are: This is a mission playing list, you need an objective?

Forgot your password? Scrroollll down. Nice to see those again. I'm tempted. The one army set I really wish I'd picked up at the time was the Steel Legion army bundle they did back in the year during the Armageddon campaign. However, I expect they'll be priced beyond my budget, and I have a big enough pile of 'future joy' to justify adding a new army..! I really liked the Steel Legion when they were widely available but boy do they feel a bit tired after plastic Krieg became a reality. I guess I've started to enjoy the Krieg aesthetic more than the the regiment that inspired them. Excited to see steel legion available, but after the insane prices on the MTO commisars not too optimistic they will be worth picking up. Heres to hoping the army bundle has some savings and not just their usual we'll save you a couple of clicks bundle. Did the commissar always have a bolt pistol? I know the original, maskless one had a rather nice boltgun and that bolt pistol looks really crudely attached.

You and that fine piece of Imperial weaponry you hold in your hands is all that is keeping humanity alive. Most of you will probably not live to see your second year in the Guard and most of you will probably never see your homeworlds again, but I can guarantee you that when you do fall, with a prayer to the most high and mighty God-Emperor on your lips, you will have earned the right to call yourself a man! The Astra Militarum , also known as the Imperial Guard in colloquial Low Gothic , is the largest coherent fighting force in the galaxy and serves as the Imperium of Man 's primary military force and first line of defence from the myriad threats which endanger the existence of the Human race in the 41st Millennium. It is comprised of countless billions of men and women -- hundreds of thousands of different regiments, supported by a vast array of light and heavy armoured vehicles that provide the Imperial Guard's primary offensive punch. They also garrison major locations of strategic or cultural interest to the Imperium and are often found in defensive roles. Supported by legions of heavy armour and thundering artillery, the Imperial Guard fight a never-ending war for the survival of Mankind in an unrelentingly hostile universe. The primary combat tactic of the Astra Militarum is to overwhelm the enemy with their endless numbers, while at the same time hammer them into submission with devastating artillery and crush them with powerful main battle tanks. As a result, the Astra Militarum is often referred to as the "Hammer of the Emperor" -- the sheer amount of force that the Imperial Guard can bring to bear on the enemy is devastating, but is not as direct or as precise as their Space Marine allies in the Adeptus Astartes , who are described as the "Scalpel of the Emperor" and specialise in planetary assaults, special operations and decapitation strikes.

Steel Legion get a REGIMENT trait - they don't use a different army list but anything you want canbe recreated with the current codex - any guard infantry except conscripts and stormtroopers can have a chimera, lascannon sentinel scout walkers are an option, and I'm pretty sure there's a stratagem allowing officers to officer without getting out of their APC. Despite this, Armageddon has a massive population and is capable of raising a large number of Astra Militarum regiments. Indeed, at the height of the Second War for Armageddon more regiments were being raised each standard year from the population of Armageddon than from any two other worlds in the entire Segmentum Solar combined. Some whisper that the world and many surrounding star systems were purged in the aftermath of this invasion, and that the feared Daemonhunters of the Chamber Militant of the Inquisition 's Ordo Malleus -- the Grey Knights -- were somehow involved. The th recovered from their losses and proved more successful in later engagements, swearing to avenge themselves upon the Greenskins by seeing every Ork expunged from Ganf Magna -- only to be redeployed shortly thereafter, their tempers still unquenched in the black blood of the Orks. The Armageddon-themed reboot of the Epic rules had some information on the organization of the Steel Legions.
To each of us falls a task. And all the Emperor requires of us Guardsmen is that we stand the line, and we die fighting. It is what we do best: we die standing.
You will fight on countless battlefields on a thousand different worlds across the galaxy. Nice to see those again. Brother Carpenter Posted March 20, Im always glad to see GW doing these types of things for people who do have a hankering after older models though Followers 1. So great is Armageddon's output of Chimeras that an extremely high proportion of regiments raised from that world are mechanised infantry. View history Talk 0. Few other Guardsmen could have accomplished such a feat, and the banner of the th received a blessing from Sisk's Ecclesiarchy high cleric in honour of their bravery. Posted March 21, Happy to see them again though, they're not in the modern style but they are nice models.
