New neighbourhood wine bar Alt has officially opened its doors on King William Road serving up wine, cocktails, and small plates to a night-time crowd.
Music is a big feature, with a state-of-the-art sound system installed and two resident female DJs on Friday and Saturday evenings, plus local musicians playing acoustic sessions each Sunday afternoon. King William Road, in the affluent Adelaide suburb of Hyde Park, which has great bakeries, cafes and restaurants. He designed a cosy seat space that was intentionally monochromatic to pay homage to all the beautiful wine bottles that line the northern wall. Elsewhere, he has played with texture, from distressed brick walls, a rough-rendered bar and live edge of the communal dining table made from year-old redgum, to smooth black dune marble table tops and lush black velvet upholstery. Venue manager and wine buyer Courtney Price has built a list of more bottles, but holds weekly wine meetings to present an updated and reprinted list with new additions and rotations.

The venue will focus on small plates that will pair nicely with the considered drinks menu. It will be structured into small plates and snacks that will be priced by item so that you can truly pick what you want to eat without compromise. There will be oysters sourced from Kangaroo Island, anchovy crostini which come with Calabrian chilli butter, parsley and fresh lemon, plus miso devilled eggs with Golden Curry Kewpie and Shichimi Togarashi.
