Just had our stove installed so reluctantly bought a net of firewood from the petrol station to try it out. Measured on freshly split pieces. Wondering if the tree was dead before felling which could account for dryness? Coincidentally I went down to my log pile this morning with a cup of coffee, an axe and my moisture meter. If you want to test your meter you can do a series of experiments using a kitchen scale and an oven at 60dgrees ish. Will dig out the instructions as it has a calibration thing in the cap a resistor I think!

I bought one 3 years ago primarily to check the moisture content of firewood, it's still working on the original batteries. Well recommended.
