Getting the right gear is an important part of playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — so it's understandable that when you're playing, you may be wonder how to stock up on better gear than what the enemies are dropping. You've also probably found some Ancient Cores, which reference "researchers" in their item description. But who are these researchers, and where do you find them? The answer to both of those conundrums lies in one place: the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. If you've been following the main story, you've gone to Impa in Kakariko Village , who in turn sent you to the research center in Hateno Village. Purah at the research center will give you a side quest to seek out someone named Robbie at his tech lab in Akkala. That's where we're going. Set that side quest as your objective and follow the waypoint, which will lead you northeast of Kakariko Village. You're going to the very northeast corner of the game world for this, so stock up on food , weapons , and most importantly a torch for the journey. On the road directly to the south of the Akkala tech lab, you'll find a stable with a shrine that conveniently acts as a fast travel point. One important thing to note: On the road between the stable and the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab location is a stationary Guardian that will kill you in one hit with its eye beam if you aren't careful. I recommend killing it now, because later on you're going to have to walk up this same road without the ability to sprint. By this point, you may have one Ancient Arrow that you could use to kill it in one hit — but naturally, I can't guarantee you will. This could be the most frustrating part of the whole endeavor. Once you get to the tech lab, you'll meet an eccentric old researcher named Robbie.
Swamp Palace 9. As part of the Robbie's Research quest, Robbie will task Link with bringing a blue flame over to the furnace, to power the tech lab.
In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , players will have to venture into some dangerous situations in order to complete shrines, puzzles, and upgrade all the Breath of the Wild armor sets. Deep in Akkala territory, there is a tech lab that players will want to unlock, but it can be difficult to get there, much less light the furnace and get the lab up and running again. As Link approaches the door of the Tech lab, it's pretty plain that, like the Tech lab in Hateno Village , that the furnace is no longer lit. That means the lab is no longer functioning, and players will not be able to purchase anything from the location without first getting the fire going again. Unlike its Hateno counterpart, the path to find the blue flame is not simple or straightforward.

It was converted from an abandoned lighthouse near East Akkala Stable , and it currently houses Robbie and Jerrin. When he interacts with them, a Korok will appear and give him a Korok Seed. Perhaps Robbie's absence led to a group of new inhabitants taking over — inhabitants who guard two nifty rewards players can pick up here. The Akkala Ancient Tech Lab used to be where players could purchase Guardian and Ancient Tech-related goods, but now, it's in a bit of a shambles. Robbie doesn't work here anymore, but after getting the Sensor upgrade in Hateno Village Research Lab, he can send Link up north to the Akkala lab for another upgrade to the Purah Pad: the Traveler Medallion. The Traveler Medallion is a powerful upgrade that lets Link instantly teleport back to a set point in the world. It's useful for traversing the vertical world of Hyrule, like in the Sky Islands in case Link falls off, but that's not the only thing worth picking up here. This one was kidnapped and forced to make the clan's clothing. As a reward for saving them from the Yiga Clan, he will give Link a Yiga shirt, which is one-third of the Yiga Armor set. When all pieces are worn together, members of the Yiga clan are friendly to Link — just like wearing a Bokoblin mask or Majora's Mask around Bokoblins. There is an Ascend platform directly under the Tech Lab in the Depths , and rising up through the floor of the Lab before visiting from the surface or getting the quest will startle the Yiga warriors inside. However, the area is littered with Blue Moblins , making it a rather dangerous trip to carry the flame. Once he enters, he will also find the kidnapped Konba , who the Yiga were forcing to make Yiga Armor for them. Snowhead 6. Continue the discussion with other Zelda fans on social media! Great Palace.
