Afap mbf

Our team afap mbf dedicated to serving the industrial and professional interests of more than members, spread across all sectors of the aviation industry. AFAP membership is only available to pilots who hold Australian citizenship, afap mbf, are permanent residents or fly for an Australian air operator.

We provide peace of mind that our pilots will be financially supported in the event their Australian Class 1 Medical Certificate is suspended or cancelled. Everything you have trained and worked for, love doing, can be derailed in a heartbeat. That's why the MBF was established - by pilots, for pilots - over 60 years ago. Since we have been providing peace of mind and financial support for Australia's pilots through the most difficult times of their careers. The MBF loss of licence cover isn't an insurance policy controlled by a large, impersonal corporation, taking profits from your premiums; it is a mutual benefit fund, with assets owned solely by you and your fellow pilots, and a mission to act in the best interests of the members.

Hi all, Just wonderering who you are all using for income protection insurance these days. Time for a review I think. Thanks guys. Our options are limited, they know that, so they can up the premiums without any care because you have nowhere else to go.. Not completely on topic, but I was with the afap for years, as an associate member most of the time working in Singapore,Kuwait and New Guinea. I paid my own loss of licence policy during that time for something like 30 years, when I retired the mbf paid out everything I contributed during that time. Quite simply they are unbelievably good, I never had income protection insurance with them, but if they do something similar to their loss of licence policy you cannot go wrong with them. My financial advisor queried the increases in fees across the various options and was told that there is a spike in claims related depression amongst pilots. Apparently there are some pretty big numbers of pilots involved. I can't remember how the different union loss of licence handle claims for this I think MBF still cover it but worth checking. There is also an international French based LOL scheme that I have read good reviews about on prune but I don't know of anyone down under who has held or claimed on it. It was discussed in the ME forums I think. There was one or two others but I dont remember the names of any of them. Be aware there is a significant difference in protections between MBF schemes and insurance companies however. Also, be careful LOL TPD and income protection are all very different animals You don't want a policy that will only pay if you are almost a vegetable eg you lose your licence but they won't pay out because you are capable of stacking shelves at Coles.

Full membership includes access to all Federation services, including industrial advice and representation, AFAP publications and newsletters, member discounts, afap mbf, and access to AAPMBF loss of licence cover.

Whatever happens, Australian Air Pilots Mutual Benefit Fund is there for you - supporting and protecting you and your family in three essential ways. Benefits are paid to members in accordance with the Rules of the MBF. The balance of the Standard Capital Benefit is payable less any monthly benefits received when a member has permanently lost their Class 1 Medical Certificate. Designed to help you better meet your financial obligations while you're not flying. Monthly payments are derived from the Standard Capital Benefit only. Benefits start 28 days after the date of disability or at the end of sick leave, whichever occurs last. With an insurance policy, your monthly payments are reduced if you earn other income.
