I had one of the cheap SAAS wheels from Autobarn installed with adr approved steering wheels steel centre and was told it was illegal. At the time I had the allen key in the car so I took it off and showed the officer the little ADR 10 Approved sticker that was on the back of it from the manufacturer and was let off. It also came with a slip of paper showing the results of the testing procedures showing it was approved but I didn't have that on hand, adr approved steering wheels.

Generally if the wheel doesn't have padding in the middle cops will defect it irrespective of whether it is ADR approved or not. Better that then having an accident and smashing your face into your steering wheel. Eh it's to protect you. I wouldn't complain just be glad you can still drive the car considering it's an "import". It's usually up to the officers discretion. If you can find a similiar product and it shows it complies you may be able to argue it. Take note any one else who's reading this thread if you purchase a steering wheel and it states clearly on the box or where ever it is adr approved up to adr10 keep it handy in the car.

In the event you change a steering wheel because you feel more comfortable with one of a different colour, configuration or material. Or would be trying to hunt down an R32 original wheel be the best option?
