What i'm really wanting to know is how far down does the needle drop till its empty and how many Km's is good for a 4K??

The Toyota K series is an inline-four engine that was produced from through It is a two-valve pushrod engine design. All K series are non-crossflow engines — the inlet and exhaust manifolds are on the same side. They have cast iron blocks and aluminium alloy heads, with a crankshaft supported by five main bearings. K series motors have both hydraulic tappet or hydraulic valve lifters, solid lifters and 1. The 8-valve OHV 1.

If i had reliable data i'd have a ballpark figure to work with so i don't go chasing my tail trying to figure out why it's heavy on petrol. According to parkers guide Toyota Corolla Hatchback 1. At present i am getting around 27mpg, this is a mix of city driving for 4 miles before i am on the motorway for another 10 miles at 60mph. I have tested the returned mpg on 6 full to full tanks to get that average. Car has k miles, auto 3 speed i believe, use BP Ultimate as everything else is now E10 petrol. There are no check engine lights on. After the service there was not much difference so googled for answers, figured how to read the engine error codes, sure enough code came up as TPS sensor, changed it and disconnected battery for an hour and tried checking for codes again and nothing came up. Unfortunately no difference! I then had the coolant thermostat, coolant sensor and temp gauge sensor changed, no difference. I have searched for fuel leaks and so far found nothing.

During summer time, my car was doing pretty well fuel wise, wasn't focusing on the exact Km's on a full tank, but I'd say around km on a full tank, normal driving. Now I barely get over ish km to a tank in the winter, normal driving as well. It also doesn't run very nicely till its warmed up, but I guess that's sorta normal with an old car. Just doesn't seem right anymore. I checked all vacuum hoses They're all fine and checked for leaks, and took a few photos. I think there's a tiny leak at the fuel pump, but It could just be oil. Also in the picture of the carb, with the choke fully closed, the right hand side valve is open? I thought when the choke was closed, it closes that too.

Fuel consumption is a vital aspect to consider when it comes to optimizing vehicle efficiency and minimizing costs. While there are various factors that affect fuel consumption, one significant element is the engine's revolutions per minute, commonly referred to as RPM. The relationship is rather nuanced and subject to other variables. When multiplied by RPM, torque provides a measure of the power delivered by the engine. By estimating fuel consumption based on power output, it becomes possible to obtain a more accurate assessment. This approach takes into account the interplay of RPM, torque, and fuel consumption, enabling individuals to make informed decisions and optimize their vehicles' fuel efficiency. The RPM refers to the number of times the engines crankshaft rotates in a minute.

For example, the big end bearings and crank bearings will be worn in the first time you start the motor. I don't believe of either the Jap diff or the Aussie-only Borg Warner diff, that one is any stronger than the other. A stock K motor can handle 6psi quite happily, at 8psi their life gets reduced noticeably, and they go bang pretty often at 10psi. Doing this will also make your idle more lumpy. The stock PCV valve and carby plate is fine if you're running the stock carb or a downdraft of some kind, just modify the plate to suit, or drill and tap another fitting into the manifold. A good way to fix this problem if you have it, is to make up a mount from the stock piece of metal which bolts to the block, and a Ford Escort or Cortina rubber, which is basically a thick rubber disc with two metal bolt threads in it. However, replacement pistons for them would be expensive, Toyota probably being the only place that would sell them, if they still do. There are a few ways to set your valve clearances:. Naturally aspirated straight-four. Aluminium alloy. I'm onto my 3rd one in miles, but I'm using almost 40 yearold KE10 mounts so it's to be expected.

An engine has a shaft horsepower of hp and its fuel weighs lbs. Compute for the specific fuel consumption. Answer on the pic above.

I travelled to Km on As an engine is basically an air pump which uses fuel to keep moving, the more air you can move, the more power you make. Posted June 27, Please consider creating a new thread. K motors aren't hard to work on, they're actually very simple compared to other cars I've had the pleasure or pain of working on. Don't bother. Hi, there. I've never really gotten into doing this, takes too much time and maths for my liking :P Rotate the engine through its' range of movement, as one valve is "on the rock" of its' max lift, subtract the valve number from 9 and that's the tappet you should be setting. I don't really think additives do anything to help your engine, and in some cases can harm it if you put in the wrong thing, or mixture of things, so I don't use them. The fast idle valve is helpful in summer, when your car will probably idle a bit higher because the air is less dense. The unribbed block is far weaker, if you have one of them, scrap it. This is what I have now. Typical output is 55 kW 74 hp; 75 PS at rpm. Tighe Cams do this profile too, the Tighe has 0. The stock cam profile is degrees adv dur , and Sprinter 3K-B cams are degrees adv dur.
