As always, I like to blog about tough fixes or oddball scenerios I come across. Read on if you want to see how I troubleshoot this, or jump to page 2 to see some notes regarding the actual fix. So yeah, roomy came home last week, parked his car as normal. Sure enough the battery was dead, something that tends to happen to older car batteries in the bitter cold here in PA. You guessed it, slapping in a new battery did NOT actually fix the problem! Is there something awry? Did a fuse blow somewhere? I ruled both of those out fairly quick: the display properly showed it in park and all other gear selections I wiggled it for good measure anyway. This is getting ridiculous now, maybe something with the bad battery messed it up? Hrmmm…fire up the scan tool and check it for errors. Zilch, everything is happy.
Im glad that I did. GuruXJW4Y answered 5 years ago. Despite the Hyundai Sonata's amazing features, customers continuously had to deal with starting issues with their vehicles.
Car won't start and no noise but everything else comes on. Been to a mechanic who did a lot of work but it did not change the fact that the car sometimes won't start. Any ideas? Whatever the reason for your failed battery, you need to get it replaced by installing either a decent used battery or a brand-new battery. I have a neighbor that had a starting problem on a eight year old Sonata. My 6cyl 3. I am having the same issue with my Azera. Finally got it to a hyundai dealer while it was happening and they diaognosted it as the fuel pump locking up. If you don't have the mechanical skills to do so, you might need to better reach out to a personal mechanic and have him do the job for you. I also had an issue with the cooling fan not stopping an running down the battery so I decided to take it in. I have had this a couple times. No one has figured it out and I usually keep it running for short errands. After two days of intermittent issues I dropped the car at a different dealership and they diagnosed the starter armature as a failure in a half-hour. A temporary fix is to bend the loosened connector so that it fits snugly on the solenoid terminal, but once I learned what the problem was, I've done this or had it done four or five times over the past two or three years. Everything is working fine but for some reason it would leave me stranded at a gas station, work, etc. Reubenj answered 8 years ago. However, my friend recommended me this article.
