In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. This is the Book in which there is no doubt, guidance for the righteous. Those who believe in the Unseen, and perform the prayers, and donate from what We have provided for them. And those who believe in what was revealed to you, and in what was revealed before you, and are certain of the Hereafter. These are upon guidance from their Lord. These are the successful.

It is decreed for you: when death approaches one of you, سورة البقرة, and he leaves wealth, to make a will in favor of the parents and the relatives—in fairness—a duty upon the righteous. We have no knowledge except what You سورة البقرة taught us.

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. This is the Book in which there is no doubt, guidance for the righteous. As for those who disbelieve—it is the same for them, whether you have warned them, or have not warned them—they do not believe. Allah has sealed their hearts and their hearing, and over their vision is a veil.

A major theme is guidance: urging the pagans Al-Mushrikeen and the Jews of Medina to embrace Islam , and warning them and the hypocrites Munafiqun of the fate God had visited in the past on those who failed to heed his call. Al-Baqara is believed by Muslims to have been revealed in in Medina over a long period after the Hijrah , with the exception of the riba verses which Muslims believe were revealed during the Farewell Pilgrimage , the last Hajj of Muhammad. Following the muqatta'at , Al-Baqara begins with the declaration that the Quran is free of doubt and contains guidance for those who possess taqwa. There follows a description of the kafirs and munafiqs. The first of these verses uses the word kafir to describe one who conceals the truth, and Muhammad is advised that they will not believe despite his efforts because God has sealed their hearts and hearing, and covered their eyes so that they will not be able to see, hear, or comprehend guidance , and that they will be punished with a great torment. It is said that they try to deceive God and the mumins believers but they deceive themselves without perception, that in their hearts is a disease which God increases, and that they will be punished with a painful torment. To the believers they say they believe, but when they go back to their devils, they tell confess their disbelief, but they do not know that God deceives them and increases their deviation. They are then called those who engage in a profitless trade, the purchase of error with guidance. The munafiqs are then likened to a person who starts a fire and feels safe in its immediate surrounding, but God extinguishes the fire and the person is covered in darkness. The Quran then calls them deaf, dumb, and blind.

We sent you with the truth—bringing good news and delivering warnings. And wherever you may be, turn your faces towards it. And show us our rites, and accept our repentance. And know that Allah is Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy. Allah knows that you will be thinking about them. Allah knows that you were betraying yourselves, but He turned to you and pardoned you. But if they cease, then Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. And beware of a Day when no soul will avail another soul in any way, and no ransom will be accepted from it, and no mediation will benefit it, and they will not be helped. And He shows you His signs, so that you may understand. And on earth, you will have a residence, and enjoyment for a while. But they will never wish for it, because of what their hands have forwarded. And if you are on a journey, and cannot find a scribe, then a security deposit should be handed over. And they ask you about orphans. But if you keep it secret, and give it to the needy in private, that is better for you.

Allah is Powerful and Wise. A believing maid is better than an idolatress, even if you like her. He who made the earth a habitat for you, and the sky a structure, and sends water down from the sky, with which He produces fruits for your sustenance. If two men cannot be found, then a man and two women from among those whom you approve as witnesses. Your browser does not support the audio element. Their example is similar to the example of a person who kindles a fire; but when it illuminates his surroundings, Allah takes away their light, leaving them in darkness—unable to see. If only the wrongdoers would realize when they see the suffering, that all power belongs to Allah, and that Allah is severe in punishment. That is purer for you, and more decent. You commit no error by announcing your engagement to women, or in keeping it within yourselves. Allah burdens no soul beyond its capacity. Had they believed and been righteous, the reward from Allah would be better—if they only knew. O you who believe! You have wronged yourselves by taking up the calf. You are our Master, so help us against the disbelieving people. And kill them wherever you overtake them, and expel them from where they have expelled you.
