Minicraft 1/144
Like airliners.
This is a very simple kit, and I've already done quite a bit of assembly work. Here's the fuselage, with the insides painted black, the nose wheel bay fitted, and nose weights fixed in place with Blu-Tack:. That's a total of 6 kit parts! And for those of you wondering why I bother painting the interior of the fuselage in black, notice the difference in colour between the fuselage and the wings. The plastic is translucent enough that you can see a hint of the internal black colour on the outside. The point of doing it, though, is to lessen the number of coats of paint you have to use on the outside to eliminate any translucency effects. I like it Kev.

It is really hard to add to all the usual stuff I have said over the past year about this aircraft. I have always found it interesting that when one manufacturer brings out a kit that modelers have wanted for many years, all of a sudden we are 'inundated' by other kits of the same thing. One has to wonder what the marketing guys used for a barometer to see what we modelers would buy. Now as nice as all of these kits are, I can't see most of us building more than one of each. There is no difference at all in the parts of this kit and the previously issued KCG kit. In fact, there are parts missing off the sprues and those have been x'd out on the image above I used the image from the KCG kit rather than rescan the sprues. As nice as the Minicraft effort is, the kit is not really that highly detailed and suffers from toy-like wheels that have no detail in them at all and are too skinny. It also has zero engine detail in the nacelles and the props are close, but no cigar. Fortunately, there are replacements for the props and engines available in Cobra Company's set What can be done about the wheels I do not know. As for other detail, there isn't much.
So the Tu-4 became another B, this one a BB. Their targets were the oil refineries on the main Japanese island of Honshu, minicraft 1/144. The worst aspect of this kit, minicraft 1/144 and away, are the propellers.
I only took one photo of the finished model for some reason, but I've added a couple of extra shots I took before I realised that I'd forgotten to paint the nose cone! Being a predominantly white aircraft, the blue background probably suits it better anyway. It's just a shame I was too lazy to take more photos once the nose cone was done! Decals are a combination of Hawkeye Models Australia livery , Authentic Airliners Decals windows , and kit decals wing panels and walkway lines. The worst aspect of this kit, far and away, are the propellers.

The Boeing company wasn't the first with a jet-powered airliner, but it wasn't long before their Model Dash 80 was flying which led to two parallel production families, the series for commercial operations and the C series which gave the US Air Force its first jet-powered air-refueling platform.

These then had the edges painted yellow and the blades sort of dry-brushed on to make it look like they were spinning. Very very nice work! Recommended Posts. I scratch built the APQ-7 Eagle radar using a piece of strip styrene and super gluing on two straight pins as supports. The large Circle R on the tail shows just how short the kit fin really is! The early aircraft were in overall aluminum. This kit is in the 'intermediate' PAA scheme with a white upper fuselage and tail. I also had scanned the new kit decals, and used those marvelous windows on this model. I painted the blue areas on the wingtips, tail tip and over the wing. While that first shot was drying. I've never used them before, so I don't quite know what to expect! Sign up for a new account in our community. The plastic is translucent enough that you can see a hint of the internal black colour on the outside. This was first painted flat black as there really is nothing to see in there anyway. Once that was done, each of the kit nacelles had to have the original attachment points sanded off so that the new engines would fit.

So the Jughound Jalopy was also finished. Thanks, Ernest. Once the wings were on, I went to the front. After building it, I can see why I have never seen one at a show. They didn't want to come off the paper, but they did lay down and stay with only a little Micro Sol. Most airliner modelers would much rather use decals for windows than to mess with clear bits that show no interior! Posted January 8, SAT69 Posted February 9, They are also not curved enough and a bit flat. Now the ones that come with the kit are totally devoid of any engine detail. Those fit well to the main gear using super glue. By this time I was in no mood to do any major work so left it alone.
