I loved that the gameplay was a little more simple and smooth in the vein of older titles and SDV, but they really bungled some I'd assume easy-to-avoid issues initial launch load times, makers, etc. There is no DLC to worry about. But, while that's mostly nostalgia.

I was going to get both of these games at some point but is there a difference between the two? Or are they basically the same? I'm assuming the storylines are different. Do I need to change the settings in the eshop to play imported games to that specific region or does that matter to play? Barbiegurl : With respect to imported games, you don't need to change your region or anything like that. Most do, but a small minority don't. Also bear in mind that an overseas release of a physical game may not support the DLC of your region's equivalent of the game, and therefore you may need the appropriate overseas account to access any such DLC.

After being pleasantly surprised by the adorable Story of Seasons Doraemon spin-off, I couldn't wait to dive into the next Switch game in the franchise which just happens to be this remake of a classic. Some of the best titles to come out have been those released in recent years under the Story of Seasons branding. Trio of Towns was a blast and as I played it, I found myself constantly discovering new things to do. As I mentioned, even the recent Doraemon Story of Seasons was a ton of fun and it featured impressive graphics although it was a little rough around the edges. This Switch remake bears many similarities to the previous versions; so much so that you can follow a guide for an earlier version and use it to get your bearings quite easily which I actually did. It also has plenty of differences that may catch you off guard such as how you obtain the new kitchen appliances or woo your prospective partner. The story is introduced quite quickly and you're then plonked into the middle of a field that was handed to you after the death of your grandfather. Other than a few Polaroids at the start that depict you hanging out with other villagers in the same town as a kid, there certainly isn't much pomp and circumstance around your arrival. Unfortunately, this is the theme throughout the entire game. There's no real overarching story to guide you; heck, it even took me about a full season before I realised that there were little harvest sprites hiding behind the church.

It was something incredibly different for my tastes at the time, and yet I probably put hundreds of hours into a couple of playthroughs. Harvest Moon has gone through an identity crisis as well, splitting into two halves under the new name Story of Seasons. But whatever its name, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is every inch the game that I was so smitten with long ago. Thankfully, it does include some quality-of-life changes and modernized touches beyond the obvious facelift. Potential romantic suitors can be romanced regardless of your gender, which you can choose freely at the outset without needing to buy a separate version of the game. There are new animals, crops, events, and characters to round out your farming life, and not only more appearances to choose from, but more outfits as well. Plant crops and raise animals to make money, expand your home and upgrade your tools, and cultivate friendships with the other inhabitants of Mineral Town. Of course, some old warts persist. Stamina can still be a troublesome resource to manage, as I was reminded when I got over-ambitious planting Autumn seeds. Trying to keep up with villagers is still a headache—why do so many people hide indoors as soon as 6PM hits?

Yeah I'll probably be getting the physical release. Disney Magical World 2 8. We'll see. The characters were very boring, dialog was constantly repeated and they had no dislikes. Now don't get me wrong, this game didn't need to be exactly like the originals, but sometimes feels like it's missing. When I went on to FOMT - not knowing the original - I found it cute, but it felt more basic to me regarding dialogue and events, and this is always my main focus in games. This is the prime game of harvest moon series remake of the prime game.. I still need to get married in that one and unlock the fruit cows as well. I could have played the originals, but I never wanted to I loved that the gameplay was a little more simple and smooth in the vein of older titles and SDV, but they really bungled some I'd assume easy-to-avoid issues initial launch load times, makers, etc.

I'll definitely keep a hopeful eye out for their next series, but if it looks "eh" then I won't really care about skipping it. About the differences, well quite obviously one game has the doraemon license, and the other one does not. As a failed artist, I tend to get all pissy about stuff like that, but the Olive Town characters would have been bland even if I wasn't! Splatoon 2 Showing 1 - 15 of 17 comments. The game was fine even though the additions felt tacked on, not like they enhanced the game but because they thought the consumers would want them. Maybe because nostalgic feeling. The story and gameplay felt copy pasted from that game and the designed of the harvest sprites were changed to look like Junimos. Murasaki 3 years ago 2 This.
